CT Programme curriculum

Updated on

The content type Course Annual Programme is intended to give the tables for the various study programmes a uniform appearance in a schematic overview of courses and period in which this course can be taken. The content type normally describes the courses from one academic year. So for each Bachelor's programme you create 3 annual programmes, for each Master's programme 1 or 2.

Preliminary

Take care when copying content from the old site:

  • Remove references to URLs or e-mail addresses from the running text as much as possible. The content should be as clean as possible. References to, for example, student advisors etc. are done differently in Drupal than references in the text.
  • Try to keep the html as clean as possible by first pasting the text onto notepad or text editor and from there into Drupal. Do not cut and paste directly from Word or the old site.
Naming Study programmes

In terms of capitalisation, the naming of study programmes follows the spelling guide of Radboud University's house style. This means:

  • NL and EN: the name of the programme in capital letters, except for articles and prepositions
  • NL: the type of programme in lower-case letters: bachelor, master, pre-master
  • EN: the programme type in capital letters: Bachelor's, Master's, pre-Master's
  • EN: British spelling

We maintain the following template:

  • Dutch study programmes:
    Study programme bachelor/master/pre-master/minor/ <Name Programme>[: <Name Specialisation>] [year <year>].
  • English study programmes:
    Study programme Bachelor's/Master's/pre-Master's/ <Programme Name>[: <Specialisation Name>] [year <year>]

<> means: variable
[] means: optional

  • Thus, for a master's specialisation, both the name of the master and the name of the specialisation are mentioned.
  • The suffix with year is only mentioned if the study programme of the programme is split into several years. This is the case for most multi-year programmes. Examples of situations where the suffix is omitted are:
    • One-year study programmes (frequently occurs in pre-masters and masters programmes);
    • A comprehensive study programme for the entire programme (occurs with some two-year master's programmes).
    • If there is a generic programme and programmes for specific specialisations, the generic programme gets the General programme / General programme suffix (in place of the name of the specialisation).

Multiple programmes, same study programme

If different study programmes have the same study programme, it is sufficient to enter one programme in Drupal. Both programmes will then be named in the name of the study programme.

Examples of names:

  • Study programme Master Molecular Sciences: Molecular Chemistry
    • 'Molecular Sciences' is the name of the master, 'Molecular Chemistry' is the name of the specialisation.
    • one programme for the entire (two-year) programme, therefore no suffix 'year'.
  • Study programme Bachelor Philosophy year 1
  • Study programme Master Philosophy: Analytical Philosophy
    • one-year programme, therefore no suffix after 'year'.
  • Study programme shortened pre-Master's programme and preparatory minor in Anthropology and Development Studies.
    • the shortened pre-master and preparatory minor share the same study programme. Therefore, they are combined into one study programme with a compound name.
    • Although the master is English-speaking, the pre-master is Dutch-speaking. Therefore, still a Dutch naming for the study programme.
